Rehabilitating Lives Through Business & Financial Education
Nairobi, Kenya – GISG has expanded its Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy for Prison Inmates Program, aimed at helping prisoners acquire business skills for self-reliance after their release.
This initiative focuses on financial planning, savings, investment, and business management, providing inmates with tools to successfully reintegrate into society through entrepreneurship.
Key Outcomes:
✅ Enhanced financial literacy among inmates
✅ Prisoners acquire skills to start small businesses post-release
✅ Reduction in recidivism as former inmates engage in productive economic activities
According to Victoria Wanjiku, Head of Training at GISG, this program aligns with Kenya’s broader efforts to rehabilitate and empower prisoners for a smooth transition into the workforce.
“When inmates gain financial knowledge, they are better equipped to create businesses and earn a living legally. This reduces crime rates and helps build a more inclusive society.”
📢 Next Phase: The program will expand to additional correctional facilities in Nairobi and Mombasa.
